In case nobody told you today...

You're SPECIAL!

I mean, where do I even begin? It was everything I hoped it would be and more. So much more!

To be honest, I'm not a huge Lizzo fan, but I adore her music. It's inspiring, healing, and just incredible. It also doesn't hurt that she is an all-around fantastic person who has worked hard for everything she has accomplished thus far. So when my best friend Paige asked if I wanted to get tickets to her concert, I said yes without hesitation. Who can pass up the opportunity to see Lizzo perform live?! To be honest, the concert was therapeutic for me.

Before I begin, I'd like to express my gratitude to Anjuli for hosting us for the weekend, and the photos below are some of the food I ate during my brief visit to Lexington, Kentucky.

This is in Columbus, Ohio! A must have!

Introducing Chef George :)

These tacos were so good!!!

First and foremost, we had a concert before THE CONCERT! I wasn't expecting that, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. We went back to the 2000s and even beyond, jamming to songs like Sweet Caroline, Party in the U.S.A., Drunk in Love, YMCA, and many more spun by Lizzo and Latto's DJs.

LATTO

To be honest, I had no idea who she was, but to my amazement, I recognized some of her songs when she was performing. Latto did a fantastic job at introducing Lizzo.

She commanded the stage with boldness, brashness and confidence. I recall one song in particular, "Pussy," because when she was performing, her dancers put up banners proclaiming "My body, My choice" and "Women's Rights." I love it when artists use their platform to assist a worthy cause. Latto was sincere, even inviting her day one fan onto the stage to show how genuine and grateful she is. As a result, I plan to listen to more of her songs

THE LIZZO EXPERIENCE

Lizzo is an incredible performer and singer! She can SING SING!! She created an environment of inclusivity, self-love, positivism, and plain vibes.

For the few hours I was in that arena, I was truly content. I was happy with where I was in my life, what I was striving towards, what I knew and what I didn't know. I don't become self-conscious anymore, but for some reason, I felt I could be entirely myself with no apologies. Everyone around me was dancing, singing along, and thoroughly enjoying themselves, and I felt joy.

This is my second concert, and I've fallen even more in love with myself, if that's even possible. Lizzo posed a single question: "When was the last time you said something nice to yourself?" As simple as that question was, I was taken aback. I mean, I love myself and brag about what a wonderful person I am at every opportunity, but have I ever purposefully said something kind to myself? So I challenge you to practice self-kindness every single day and I will do the same.

In the middle of the concert, Lizzo appeared to be overwhelmed by the love and devotion showered on her by the audience. From my perspective, it was a realization of the dream she had worked so hard for, unfolding right in front of her. I don't know where she began as an artist, but what I do know is how hard she worked to get to where she is now. Thank you, Lizzo, for your inspiring, self-loving, and emotionally charged songs that you have shared with the world now and will in the near future. You truly deserve the world.

There's a lot happening in the world right now, especially here in America, but I hope you always remember that you're special and Lizzo couldn't have said it any better.

In her words:

In case nobody told you today

You're Special

In case nobody made you believe

You're Special

Well, I will always love you the same

You're Special

I'm so glad that you're still with us

Broken, but damn, you're still perfect.

Remember this, no matter what you are going through right now, know that you are perfect, beautiful and valuable nevertheless.

You are loved Lizzo

I had to rep her clothing line "Yitty". It was only right.
